Dannenbaum’s highway design practice began in the 1970s with projects for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Houston District. When the agency turned to the private sector for major planning and design support in the 1990s, Dannenbaum became one of the premier highway consulting firms in the State. Today, Dannenbaum has one of the largest in-state staffs dedicated to highway work. Dannenbaum’s leadership in Pass-Through Financing with TxDOT helps localities get the roads they need financed while leveraging limited TxDOT funds.
Dannenbaum Engineering’s involvement in rail transportation dates back to the firm’s early years. In the South and Southwest our clients have included the Southern Pacific, Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad companies. As part of several industrial development projects, Dannenbaum designed industrial rail yard complexes that required thousands of feet of heavy rail and railroad crossings.
Dannenbaum became a lead consultant for the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) Rail Program in 2006, undertaking the design of the North Corridor Light Rail Transportation (LRT) System, which extends the current Downtown system north for approximately six miles.
